Gutters are the unsung hero of your home or business.  They help route the rain, ice, and snow that falls on your property safely to storm drains or other collection systems.  When they are working properly they help increase the effectiveness of your roof and siding and keep you dry while coming and going.  Properly installed and well maintained gutters go mostly unnoticed.  Damaged and broken gutters cause all kinds of problems and can lead to serious structural damage, not to mention hazards that can create liabilities for slips and falls.  REHAB often replaces or installs gutters with our other projects, but they deserve attention in their own right.

The world of gutters may seem pretty straight forward, but there are many things to consider.  The materials and installation methods vary greatly depending on the type of roof you have.  Picking the right combination is more than picking a pleasing color and pointing them in the right direction.  REHAB knows gutters, and we can install them with the proper angles and joints so that they drain efficiently and cleaning them is easy.

Our property consultation professional will come to your home for free and access your gutters.  REHAB will then give you some workable options to help you get the right gutters for your application.  If your project requires a new roof or siding, it’s a good idea to have a look at the gutters too.  You can call us anytime and we will be happy to answer your questions in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my Insurance Company pay for my roof to be replaced?

Yes, if there is damage caused by any act of nature such as wind or hail. In fact, those damages may lead to repair or replacement of other items inadvertently affected by the initial cause of damage.

What should I look for in a contractor?

A reliable contractor should always be able to showcase their past jobs and have a great reputation both online and in your area. Always check the company ratings and complaint history with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Good contractors are accessible and knowledgeable, and should always be able to solve any doubts or questions you might have. You should also make sure that the company you choose is licensed at the state level for the job you’re hiring them for, and that they have sufficient liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

If I get bids lower than my Insurance settlement, do I get to keep the rest?

No. Most insurance companies require the work to be completed to release a final payment. If they pay a portion upfront and are holding back a portion until completion, the final bill will be determined by an actual invoice amount not to exceed the adjusted amount.

Example: The insurance company says it will allow $10,000.00 to replace your roof. You get a bid for $9,000.00. The insurance company will release funds for $9,000.00, NOT the projected estimated cost of $10,000.00.

A contractor who promises  you will be able to keep part of the insurance settlement is actually a big red flag, and you would be breaking the law if you engage in such practice.

Can I get upgrades on my materials?

Yes. However, the increase in price above the estimate provided by your Insurance company may be at your own cost. On the other hand, it is the best time to do upgrades since the insurance company is paying for the bulk of the cost. Plus, if you have any new claims going forward, the upgraded items will be replaced at the upgraded level.
